TERMINATOR 2 : JUDGEMENT DAY (1991) is a rare case - a sequel that is better than the original . Seven years had elapsed between the first movie and this , during which the SFX quality had greatly advanced . This movie follows the principle of 'the more the merrier' to rise above its predecessor and succeeds . It has more action , better special effects and more humour complimented by a thumping soundtrack . I also prefer Arnold The Saviour more than Arnold The Assassin .
It's been 11 years since a cyborg nicknamed 'Terminator' was sent back in time (from 2029 A.D. to 1984 A.D. to be exact) to kill John Connor , the future leader of The Human Resistance . Now it is 1995 A.D. John Connor (Edward Furlong) is 10 years old and likes to freak out on a bike and hack others' ATM accounts . His mother Sarah (Linda Hamilton) is locked in a state mental asylum for having "delusions" about a nuclear holocaust in future .
Now another cyborg named 'T-1000' (Robert Patrick) made up of liquid metal and more powerful than the last is sent back in time to assassinate John Connor . The Human Resistance responds by sending a Terminator (Arnold Scwarzeneggar) back in time to protect John . The stage is set for showdown .
Technically the movie is a marvel . Cinematography (Adam Greenberg) is excellent using lots of sepia and blue-black shades . Make-up effects (Stan Winston) and SFX are awesome .
Schwarzeneggar is great as the poker-faced saviour cyborg . Edward Furlong makes a sparkling debut . Watch out for the buddy bonding between him and Schwarzeneggar...they are funny . Robert Patrick as T-1000 is scary as hell and has almost no lines to deliver .
The movie also has a few lines from the first like " I'll be back " and " Come with me if you want to live " . These lines are repeated in T3 .
My friend once said that Terminator movies are "true Hollywood"
